Quali-Pro Quinclorac 75 DF is the concentrated, dry-granule version of the active ingredient in Drive XLR8. It kills emerged crabgrass, foxtail, clover and several other weeds in cool-season lawns, and it’s the budget pick in our crabgrass killer tests. The trade-off is that you have to weigh it.

What it’s for
Quinclorac 75 DF does the same job as Drive XLR8: it knocks out crabgrass that has already come up, along with foxtail, clover, dandelion, kikuyugrass and field bindweed. Because it’s 75% quinclorac instead of about 19%, a 1 lb jug goes a long way, which is why it was the best-value pick in our crabgrass killer tests.
If you’re treating a small lawn and don’t own a kitchen scale, the liquid Drive XLR8 is easier. For bigger properties, the dry product costs less per treatment.
How to use it
The label rate is 0.367 oz per 1,000 sq ft. Our crabgrass guide simplifies that to one level tablespoon per gallon of water for about 1,361 sq ft, but weighing is more accurate. Our quinclorac calculator does the math for your lawn size. Always add a surfactant; methylated seed oil works best on mature crabgrass.
Spray while weeds are actively growing, and make a second application no sooner than 21 days after the first. Don’t mow for 2 days before or after. The yearly cap is 2 lb per acre, about 0.73 oz per 1,000 sq ft. New seedings of labeled grasses can be treated after about 4 weeks.
Not for St. Augustine, centipede, bahia, carpetgrass, colonial or seaside bentgrass, or dichondra; avoid straight fine fescue. The granules can clog nozzles if not fully mixed. Solutions lists shipping restrictions to several states, including NY, PA and ME.
